Coffee Shop, Ice Cream - 10014 New York
An absolutely amazing ice cream shop run by an Argentinian. Perhaps the best place to get refreshing, flavorful ice cream in New York.

Restaurants - 8 Rue Saint-Marc, 75002 Paris
The buffet / cook your own meat is a change of pace from the typical Chinese restaurants (under the guise "Japanese") but I was unimpressed by the quality of the meat. The meat was very fatty and the environment was somewhat "glauque" (get out your French dictionaries). I questioned the hygiene (I'm sure it is fine but the presentation did not reassure me). The concept is good but it does not seem fully realized.

The sandwich ingredients do not seem incredibly fresh and for the price, their quality is somewhat inferior. If you are looking for a small refuge during rush hours the establishment is clean and quiet, but overall, I'm not sure if I'd return (I have other favorite spots in this neighborhood)

Amazing terrace + wine list. Very kind service (typcial of Montreuil). Beware: the salads are enormous.

Just average. The pizza is great if you think Italian food comes from Chef Boyardee (sorry, an American reference).
La Cave du Picaro

I almost "loved" this place but I was really disappointed by the ratio "price / quantity." The tapas were served in little dishes, kind of like the dish that you'd find for grocery store crème brulée (that you then use to feed your cat (if you ever stoop that low)). Or like a petri dish, yes, a petri dish is probably a more accurate discription. Anyway, one petri dish of tapas costs around 7 to 9 euros (or 8,50 max, I don't remember). The waitress recommended 3 tapas for 1 person when in actuality, 5 tapas per person is probably a better idea if you are here to eat dinner. 5 x 8 euros... you do the math. The ambiance is nice, the owner (Spanish) / servers are nice... perhaps overly nice (you judge). The food is good, but again, the portions are ridiculous. Come here to get a drink and perhaps one tapas for a very light hunger; the kind of hunger you have after you eat a chapon at noon on Christmas Day.

Certainly the best Thai I have ever had in Paris, arguably the best Thai I have ever had in my life. Served by a matriarchy of older Thai women, the meals were presented on beautiful tableware and a melody of savors ensued. I am almost certain that the ingredients are hand-picked and meticulously prepared. Completely authentic, you're better off making a reservation and you're better off if you arrive on time (the ladies who run the place are not disagreeable, but they are "firm").
